The main idea is this: to define a plot, you have to say what you put on the vertical axis and what - on the horizontal axis. Many AP Statistics texts do not follow this definition format. As a result, students can only recognize a chart but cannot give its definition. This creates problems when a student need to answer a more substantive question.
